SnapEdit just shipped four new AI-powered photo enhancement tools — all free to try with your daily credits. Here’s what each one does and when to use it.

1. AI Expand — Extend Any Photo Beyond Its Original Frame

AI Expand uses outpainting technology to generate new content beyond the borders of your original photo. Upload a narrow or cropped image, choose a platform ratio — Instagram Post, Story, YouTube Cover, or custom — and the AI fills in the expanded zones by reading the scene context: sky continues with the same cloud density, floors extend with the same texture and grain.

This is useful for reformatting photos between platform aspect ratios, fixing tight compositions without reshooting, and adding space around product shots for text overlays. Expand up to 200% of the original size. Try AI Expand →

2. AI Flash — Add Real Camera Flash to Any Photo

AI Flash adds a direct camera-flash look to the main subject in your photo — brightening the face and body, sharpening contrast against the background, and leaving the background itself unchanged. The model produces a neutral white flash output (no warm or yellow cast) and applies the effect only to the subject.

Use it on dim indoor portraits, night event photos, or any shot where the subject needed flash at the time but didn’t have it. Adjust the intensity from 0–100 directly in the tool. Try AI Flash →

3. Backlight Fix — Recover Subjects Shot Against Bright Backgrounds

Backlight Fix corrects photos where strong light from behind the subject leaves the foreground underexposed and the background blown out. The model processes subject and background as two separate zones — restoring natural front lighting on the subject while toning down excessive background brightness simultaneously.

It works on portraits shot against the sun, window-light indoor shots, group photos on beaches or open skylines, and any scene where the background is significantly brighter than the subject. Adjust the correction intensity after the AI processes the image. Try Backlight Fix →

4. Light Match — Add Professional Lighting to Any Photo

Light Match is the most versatile of the four new tools. Upload a photo, then either upload a reference image with the lighting you want to replicate, or choose from 11 professional presets: Window, Rim Light, Focus, Dream, Shadow, Halo, Dramatic, Side, Soft, Golden, and Dappled.

The AI analyzes your subject’s position and structure, then calculates the most realistic light path for that specific scene — adding directional light, depth, and mood that wasn’t in the original photo. The results are most dramatic on flat-lit portraits and product shots. Adjust the intensity after applying and download in your preferred size. Each Light Match apply uses 8 credits.
